Helping Build San Diego’s Affordable Housing Community.
OUR JOURNEY
Established in 1965, Grace Lutheran Developments (GLD) has been single-minded in its mission to face head-on the challenges of the affordable housing crisis, ultimately seeking to provide high-quality, affordable living spaces to San Diego’s senior community.
The years 1967 through 1979 marked a pivotal point in GLD’s impact on this area – 475 units were constructed across three projects at the intersection of Park Boulevard and University Avenue. Through maintaining sole ownership for more than 50 years, Grace Lutheran Developments’ assets are capable of housing over 600 of San Diego’s low-income seniors.
As existing owners and operators of affordable housing for many years, GLD’s board members provide valuable skills and observations that allow them the ability to directly recognize the problem facing this city’s seniors. With a growing elderly population and San Diego’s lack of fair, economical housing, it is GLD’s mission to offer a solution through high-quality, permanent living spaces for those impacted by the crisis.
Leaning on these years of experience, in 2015, the firm succeeded in acquiring a property that they knew would act as a blueprint and display their vision for subsequent endeavors to address the growing demand. Looking to the future, Grace Lutheran Developments’ volunteer board of directors is eager to introduce a first-class, 115-unit residential tower to the San Diego community, further expanding their pursuits to better serve the low-income senior population.
